An opportunity to open to the divine feminine occurred on February 8th, 2014, at St. Boniface Episcopal Church. Led by Kimberly Braun and Darlene Coleman, a version of the Akathist was performed, an ancient chant, a hymn of praise for a miraculous event that saved a community through the intervening of Mary, The opening ceremony was an amazing serenade of flute and didgeridoo led by Mark Selis (Hukam) and Normen Schindowski, respectively. What made the event even more special was the surrounding icons created by contemporary artist Ludmila Pawlowska.. Inspired by traditional Russian icons, these modern day icons were so moving and soulful expressions of spirit and the love of the divine in all. The tones of these ancient chants, were healing and haunting on so many levels. The chants were enhanced by the soothing sounds created by Kathie Hayes on the handbells. What an honor and privilege it was to experience the sweet sounds and healing vibrations of the music.. The reverberations of the healing tones still reside in me as I feel blessed to be surrounded by the divine feminine in all.
